All Is Fair Staged Reading by Bao Phi

baophi.jpgSpoken word artist Bao Phi will present a staged reading of his new play All is Fair,
about a dinner party with a Chinese American hippie Vietnam vet, a
Vietnamese American who voted for Bush, an adopted Korean American
graphic novelist, and a "fiscally conservative" Hmong American.
Directed by Robert Karimi and starring David Mura, May-Lee Yang, Sun Mee Chomet, and Thuyet Nguyen.

saloonsmall.jpgFor its eighth season, Vampire Cowboys Theatre Company brings back its popular series "The Saturday Night Saloon", a monthly party featuring new genre-bending serialized plays by NY's hottest indie theatre artists. The Saloon includes six plays by six different playwrights -- including Dustin Chinn's (of Ma-Yi Writers Lab) Let's Ninja Science Ranger Team Get! -- an homage to Japanese sentai TV shows and time travel science fiction, with a hip-hop twist. The Cats of Mirikitani Screening

the_cats_of_mirikitani_03.jpgBlending beauty and humor with tragedy and loss, The Cats of Mirikitani was the winner of the Audience Award at its premiere at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival. The film explores the life of Jimmy Mirikitani, an elderly survivor of WWII internment camps, Hiroshima, and homelessness, who heals the wounds of his past through creating art.

Asian Community Leadership Program -- Seattle

The API Community Leadership Foundation (ACLF) is now accepting applications for its 2010 Community Leaders Program (CLP). The CLP is an intensive curriculum that provides training and mentorship to those with an interest in and potential to step into leadership roles within API communities. Not only does ACLF focus on technical leadership skills such as public speaking, communication and media; it integrates values of community building, equity, and social justice that serve as a principle foundation to building strong communities.
