Asian American Sports with Rick Quan: The Jeremy Lin Video Interview

August 11, 2011

Hyphen is happy to announce that we'll be featuring video interviews with prominent Asian Americans in professional sports, including athletes, coaches, and those who work behind the oft-sweaty scenes. Veteran sports broadcaster Rick Quan -- head of video production company Rick Quan Productions and fill-in sports anchor at KGO-TV, the San Francisco Bay Area's ABC affiliate -- helps Hyphen bring out our inner jock by getting close to sports' heavy hitters, with a production value that make our inner A/V nerd rejoice.

Look for upcoming video posts with University of San Francisco men's basketball coach Rex Walters and Olympian speed skater turned Dancing with the Stars champ Apolo Anton Ohno.

Kicking off our inaugural Asian American Sports post is an interview with golden boy Jeremy Lin (Hyphen's covered him here, here and here) of the NBA's Golden State Warriors as he discusses the initial anti-basketball sentiment within his extended family; how the racist taunts from playing college ball fortunately did not follow him when he turned pro; and overcoming the difficulties of trying to represent everyone from Asian Americans to the Bay Area to Harvard.
