Ten years ago today, the DREAM Act was first introduced in the US Senate and this anniversary comes after a year particularly fraught with legislative setbacks, anti-immigration bills and rhetoric, and the threat of deportation of some of the nation's most promising young scholars and leaders. A petition is circulating with the goal of sending 10,000 signatures to President Obama and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director John Morton which supports the immediate end of deportations of DREAM Act students.
