Remembering 9/11: An Events and Resource Guide

September 9, 2011

There are numerous Asian American projects around the country commemorating the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. We've compiled a list of selected events, as well as links to online educational resources and special publications, for the anniversary.

Our Executive Director Irene Kao also shares her thoughts on the occasion:

The commemorations of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 will inspire a lot of reflection as well as elicit great anxiety and tension.  There is still so much for us to learn and change as we all negotiate a post-9/11 world, but I am still hopeful that an event that was both deeply personal and political and infinitely echoes around the globe will continue to push our community to have more dialogues and be more inclusive.  We must bring light to discrimination, racism and xenophobia, as well as highlight the beautiful complexities of who we are with great insight and courage.  While our community is neither uniform nor on the same page, we must stay committed to a sense of solidarity and empathy in the spirit of fighting the hate, malice and fear that has brought us here to this point.  I dedicate Hyphen to all you, our family and friends, in honor of this time and this intent.
