Manzanar barracks on sale at eBay

November 29, 2004

I'm not sure why, or how he got a hold of it, but some guy is selling the last standing barracks from the Manzanar Japanese Internment camp. Place your bid at eBay. The auction ends on, you guessed it, Dec. 7.

Well, 5 hours left to go and no bids. His opening ask is $10,000 and the Buy- it-now-price is $199,000. I wonder how true the story is, that one Mr. Riley bought the barrack from the government as a pile of redwood lumber and reassembled it. Is there really not one one house left at the Manzanar like this guy says?
