Link Time: Harragossip Girls

  • Why are the only people of color on Gossip Girl [1] mute? DISGRASIAN [2] has a few sassy things to say about how the show follows in the footsteps of Gwen Stefani [3] in treating people of color like accessories. Read about the one black girl and one Asian girl on the show, aka the HaraGossip Girls [4] (links to Racialicious). You know the two. They always show up together, dressed similarly, trailing queen bee Blair.

By the way, I love the tagline on DISGRASIAN's site: "You're a disgrace. To the race." We feel that way too sometimes about certain people. I've been thinking of starting a hopefully not-too-recurring entry on the Hyphen blog called Losing Face. As in "Losing Face: Tila Tequila [5]."

  • And here's a cool story in the Boston Globe about POC bloggers. Blog is Beautiful [6]. You should check it out if only to find out about all the great blogs that are out there. (I linked to a few of them today.)
