There's an interesting story behind her name. She and her sister gave themselves the names "Meiko" and "Keiko" to connect to their Japanese roots (she's a quarter Japanese). But she didn't know that Meiko is actually pronounced "Mayko" so her name is actually pronounced "Meeko." (This is all according to her Wikipedia entry [1]).

We recently downloaded her album on iTunes and really like "Hawaii [2]" (which was on Grey's Anatomy) and some of the other less pop-sounding songs. We have been debating about who she sort of sounds like -- the singer from Loquat, Sia, or the singer from the Sundays.
