  • So it's Thursday and I'm just getting around to reading my Sunday paper.... (if I haven't read it, it's news to me, right?) Here's a story in the NY Times about Vietnamese priests. Even though Asian Americans make up a tiny number of Catholics (1%), they are 12% of seminarians (and mostly Vietnamese American). The story is written by Neela Banerjee, not to be confused with OUR Neela Banerjee here at Hyphen. Hmm, how many Neela Banerjees are out there? Enough for a Neela Banerjee Project?

Thanks for the plug! The film is still playing in NYC until Dec 27. WE had a decent opening weekend, but now that the transit strike is on, I'm sure the box office will be affected. I encourage Hyphen readers to come on down, support Asian American and independent cinema -- not to mention a great movie house!
