Is Tan Nguyen Racist?

October 23, 2006

This has been breaking all last week, but in case you haven't heard, Vietnamese immigrant and California congressional candidate Tan Nguyen has been linked to the 14,000 letters sent out to Spanish speakers, warning immigrants that they could be arrested if they tried to vote. Read Chronicle article here. Is it just me, or is this totally sick? Nguyen of course is saying he had no idea his staff was sending out this letter, and that he's not going to drop out of the race. And his spokesman is splitting hairs over the words used, "emigrado" means this and not that, we didn't mean to include legal immigrants in this, yadi yadi. What's lacking is any kind of explanation why this would seem to be a good idea under any circumstances, correct translations or not. An immigrant targeting other immigrants, that's what it boils down to. Or maybe it's: Republicans fight dirty, no matter where they come from. That's what this boils down to. Or perhaps: if you forget where you come from and that you too are brown, you end up making an ass of yourself on the national stage. that's what this boils down to. Anyway, chalk up another one in the villain column.

Tan Nguyen is a wannabe white and a total sellout pandering to racist whites especially the Minutement. He is no different from Michelle Malkin, Jan Ting (the Senate candidate from Delaware) and Yeh Yeh Ling (who thinks that there are too many Asians in America). These scumbags associate themselves with white racists such as Tom Tancredo of Colorado. They do not represent Asian Americans.
These guys use any means necessary to win. Why does everyone think this year will be different? They already stole 2 presidential elections (wide scale fraud). You really think they cannot steal House elections (small scale fraud). This is the same group that managed to legalize warrantless wiretaps, suspend habeas corpus, ban books like "America Deceived" from Amazon, detain demonstrators and start 2 illegal wars based on lies. The Republicans will probably lose a few seats to make it look good but maintain a majority. Then they'll invade Iran on behalf of Israel.Support indy media.Final link (before Google Books bends to gov't will and drops the title):http://www.iuniverse.com/bookstore/book_detail.asp?&isbn=0-595-38523-0
i am not familiar with the tan nguyen situation, but some groups do make a point of letting "illegal" immigrants know that if they vote before they are "legal" than they could jeopardize their chance of ever becoming "legal".
Tan GyONE is Racist no doubt. Why didn't he send out the letter to everybody in general instead of just Latinos? He basically killed his political career with this tactic. This will come up every time he runs for any public office position.
Wow!Is Tan Nguyen for real? Does he real think hovering over people at a polling booth on November 7, will real help his cause? I think it might have worked in back in elementary school, I guess he does what has worked for him as an adult. He real should have step aside as he was asked by the party (he must think he is bigger than the party), but instead he will continue to disgrace himself, his family, the Vietnamese community, the GOP and Orange County. This guy was always way over his head; a) He never was a serious contender (who thinks that one letter to 14,000 will get him elected?), b) He sent out a letter that he did not comprehend (on letterhead that was not his by a couple who happen to be his friend and staff member), c) He first denies his campaign sent the letter, d) He accuses and fires his staff member for the letter, e) He does an about face and tries to re-hire his staff member, f) He has a tissy fit and blames the whole thing on his opponent, which brings me to his campaign theme which is “I Blame other for my shortcomings, I do not take full responsibility for my mistakes and do not show grace under pressure”. Well, yesterday “Joe Public” “Told Him It Like It Is". How appropriate!
