Hawaii Native Pitches for A's

July 30, 2006

Komine is from Honolulu and attended the University of Nebraska before being drafted by the A's. He started the season on the disabled list, but won his last six decisions in the minor leagues before getting the call up to the majors for a spot start. However, A's manager Ken Macha said Komine won't neccessarily be sent down and could stick around if he pitches well.

Komine pitches again for Oakland tonight. Hopefully he'll get his first win but he pitched damn well agaisnt Toronto!!!!
Komine got roughed up a bit. Another pitcher came off the disabled list, and Komine got sent down.
I was at that game! Komine gave up a homerun on his second pitch, but the crowd kept encouraging him, and he went on to pitch 6 great innings. Our section gave him a standing ovation for his performance. It's too bad he didn't get the win (Street blew the save), but I hope he sticks around for a while.
