Bobby Lee Sighting

April 12, 2007

He sat down a couple tables away from me. I knew he was in town to promote his new movie Kickin' it Old School because Hyphen had an interview scheduled with him. I was way distracted from my meal (and usually it's hard to distract me from food) because I think he's hilarious. Just thinking about him kind of cracks me up. I thought about introducing myself to him. I guess I have an excuse since I'm the editor of a magazine, but I always feel lame about bothering famous people.

Anyway, there's a good story about Bobby Lee in Jeff Yang's Asian Pop column this week: Mad Man.

And stay tuned to Hyphen for our interview with him, coming soon.

In non-Bobby Lee related news, I'll be speaking at Oberlin College this weekend for their heritage month celebration (which is a month early). They have a bunch of events scheduled through the month, which is themed "Arts, Activism and Asian America." I'll be speaking about ethnic media. Saturday, April 14th, 1:30 pm at Wilder Hall. Hope to meet some Hyphen readers there!
