Asian Culinary Forum Starts Friday

October 8, 2008

I like the sound of that. I don't know if you've ever noticed, but when we talk about food in Hyphen, it's not about giving you an ingredients list so that you can cook something. It's about the people and the politics behind getting that meal to your table.

In fact, yours truly will be speaking on just that topic at a roundtable discussion called "Narratives for the Next Generation." Let's see, the description says we're going to "exchange insights on Asian food culture in the arts and the challenges of creating more complex, more relevant stories for today’s diverse communities." The roundtable is on Sunday, part of an all-day symposium, and it's moderated by none other than Samantha Chanse, last seen serving as mistress of ceremonies at the Mr. Hyphen contest.
