Here's a clip to prove how this was not a joke:

The main reason we decided to go with this concept is "The Price is Rice" by Jennifer Bagalawis-Simes, a story in the Consumption Issue where we discuss the value of rice. According to Andrea Nguyen, co-founder of the Asian Culinary Forum, "if we understand the true value of rice, then we will become more aware of the food choices we make and think of ways to sustainably consume food." So where did all this rice go afterward? You'll be happy to know that Hyphen donated all 500 pounds of rice to families in need and soup kitchens. Ah, a little rice goes a long way.

During this holiday season, think before you consume and most importantly, eat every speck of your rice because rice farming is a backbreaking chore. We are so lucky that we haven't experienced wars and famine like our grandparents did.
