Hyphen Recognized by Wells Fargo Foundation

June 25, 2008

The event was very exciting for us because we were chosen out of a
pool of 32 applicants and recognized alongside five other reputable
nonprofits, such as the Chinese Cultural Center, Chinatown YMCA, C.E.O.
Women, Asian Pacific Psychological Services, and Oakland Asian Student
Education Services. We were touched by many of the stories that the
other organizations had to share, such as how some children in San
Francisco Chinatown have never crossed the bay bridge. These personal
anecdotes reaffirmed my belief that Hyphen's existence is still much needed
because it is through Hyphen that we can bring you those stories.
We
cannot thank Wells Fargo Foundation enough for giving us our first
"big" check, literally. We've always given it away before at our annual
Mr. Hyphen event but we've never received one ourselves. We were so
excited that we almost wanted to go cash it in right there and then.
The money will help us with the printing and distribution of the
magazine, and help us to keep spreading the Hyphen love. Hopefully with this money, we will be able to offer more free subscriptions to those that need it.
So thank you again Wells Fargo, for supporting us and allowing us to do what we do best!
