'America's Best Dance Crew' Final 2

August 7, 2008

Cara Horibe's "Maniac" solo alone deserves a spot in the final two. Plus the whole crew rolled out old 80s photos and mocked the ever mockable JC Chasez! Maybe Fanny Pak is just too clever for the average MTV-watching public. I'm as outraged as I can possibly be about a reality dance competition.

But on the upside, the final three crews were chock-full of dancers of color with a particularly high Asian American — especially Filipino American — count. Aside from Horibe of Fanny Pak, Super Cr3w has three Asian American members and Houston's So Real Cru has the honor of being this season's all-Asian American crew to make it to the final show.

Now that I think about it, this show is probably the most diverse program on television at the moment. Two out three judges and the exec producer are African American, the host is Chicano, and the audience and competitors are overwhelmingly people of color. And I guess you could count that annoying English chick as the international one.

OMG NO WAY! I LOVE FANNY PAK! ahhh. this is such sad news. fanny pak, is freaking, awesome. seriously. look at their routines. they are true artists. they are creative, they have the technical skills, and they are just great well-rounded dancers. honestly, i don't care for super cr3w that much. sure they have the technical b-boying skills. they can do the freaking tricks, but so can a lot of people. when super cr3w danced, they were hella messy most of the time. they did not "kill" all of their routines. gah. this is going to give me nightmares.fanny pak, i love youuu! you guys rule my world!
FANNY PAK, WERE GREAT AND VERY SMART. SUPER CREW, STILL RULES AND SHOULD WIN.GOOD DANCING FROM ALL OF THE CREWS.
I liked Fanny Pak although I tend to think of the girl rap group of the same name. As much as I do like America's Best Dance Crew, I have to admit I'm a bigger fan of So You Think You Can Dance. And I'm super bummed that fellow Hawaii-native Mark Kanemura was eliminated.
so real cru does not deserve to be there still with their safe but unmemorable performances. period.and I'm sick of hearing that girl whine about her parents not supporting her. What concerned parent would? It's totally normal and here the show focuses more on her lame plight than, say, the Boogie Bot's guy with the dad in the coma. Need I say more?
fanny pak! fanny pak! fanny pak! fanny pak!silly silly judges and voters...fanny pak! fanny pak! fanny pak!
i am so with you anonymous. has anyone else noticed how mtv totally plays up the asian stereotype with the whole "my parents not supporting me and my dancing" and the whole "wooo we don't want to come across as too sexy because that's just weird" thing?! i don't know if it's mtv or the crew themselves but seriously, don't play into that. stop talking about how your parents don't support you EVERY EPISODE. it just gives mtv more "meat" and more "drama" - ergh. total exploitation. mtv totally did that with kaba too.whatever. fanny pak is still my number 1!
