Comedy Night at Asian American Writer's Workshop

Join AAWW for a night of audience-judged stand-up competition. The comedians, who have been featured on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart to Late Night with Conan O'Brien, will answer the question: "What's the worst fight you've ever had with your parents?" Hilarity ensues! Guests include: Sheela Shrinivas, Helen Hong, Jen Kwok, Kevin Nadal, Ali Wong, and improv by Barkada.

Sulu Series, the monthly showcase of established and up-and-coming API artists, has an exciting line-up for March. Stone Forest Ensemble will perform their signature classical/world music/hip-hop fusion. Also joining is the reggae roots band Brown Rice Family, and singer-songwriter Alfa Garcia. Liberty in North Korea (LiNK) Crossing Film Tour

LiNK, a humanitarian org focused on North Korean refugees and human rights, is launching a new campaign this month. The award-winning feature film Crossing will be screened over 300 times as part of a national college campus tour. The film is based on real accounts from over a hundred North Korean refugees. Check the LiNK website for a screening near you.

Twelfth Annual Asian American Literary Awards

Since 1998, the Asian American Writers' Workshop Annual Asian American Literary Awards have honored Asian American writers in varied genres, including fiction, poetry, and screenplays. Guidelines and application for an upcoming award are available here. No self-published works will be considered. Award recipients will be announced in the fall and publicly presented during a winter awards ceremony. Applications are due Friday, March 15, 2009.
