12th Annual United States of Asian American Festival
San Francisco's Asian Pacific Islander Cultural Center's
annual API heritage month festival
starts this week. The festival kicks off Thursday with a
gala opening and
exhibition opening. Friday, Australian novelist Brian Castro and artist
Jenifer Wofford (who we featured in issue 12) do a show-and-tell of
sorts with stories and images. Saturday brings a queer API women's film
night. There's a lot of events going on. And many past and present Hyphen
contributors are being showcased in the events, including Bob Hsiang (that's his
art above), Mia Nakano, and Samantha Chanse (performing a comedic
play May 22 and May 23). And to top it all off, there's a 88th birthday
celebration for our favorite activist Yuri Kochiayama too!
Too many events and locations for us to list here. Take a look over at the website for all the details.
