Update: Military Board Says Lt. Dan Choi Should Be Discharged

June 30, 2009

dan_choi.jpgCalling it a setback and "an opportunity to keep fighting," Lt. Dan Choi faces discharge from the Army National Guard for violating the "don't ask, don't tell policy" for gays and lesbians in the military.

A military administrative board recommended
Tuesday that Choi, who outed himself on national TV in March to protest
"don't ask, don't tell," be discharged for violating the policy against
homosexual conduct.

President Obama had promised to repeal "don't ask, don't tell" but hasn't done anything about it so far.

It could be a year before Choi is actually discharged, so stay tuned. In the meantime, support Choi by signing his petition.

It never ceases to amaze me that with people dying all over the world, some people are obsessed with the sexual behavior between consenting adults. Makes you wonder if they have some real underlying sexual problems.John HurdLt Colonel, Special ForcesCombat veteran Vietnam/Laos
She is no different than Lt Choi's homophobic battalion commander, and fellow West Point grad, LtCol John Andonie, cdr of the 69th, who is the guy who charged choi with moral and professional dereliction and not with violating don't ask don't tell. Dan Choi is the FIRST gay guardsman discharged in the over 200-year history of the New York National Guard. Well done Col Andonie you go girl. Andonie is supported in his efforts to rid this patriotic "faggot scum" from the ranks of the guard by no other than General Joseph Taluto, who aspires to lead the entire nationwide Army National Guard. If he is the first Adjutant General to discharge a queer in the history of the New York Army National Guard, imagine what great impact he can have as the director of the army national guard. Gov Patterson and Pres Obama must be very proud to have nominated a man like general taluto. Just think by 2010 if he can discharge one gay from each of the states what progress can be made. Currently taluto's nomination is languishing in the Senate Armed Services Committee over inquires into the death of CPT Esposito. Prehaps President Obama would be wise to withdraw Taulto's name from nomination.
This look interesting,so far.If there are any real people here looking to network, leave me a post.Oh, and yes I'm a real person LOL.Bye,
I cannot believe this is true!
I am doing a report for my english assiment and a have chosen your story to display what discrimination is.
Funny how it is never reported that LT Choi was charged with assaulting a non-commissioned officer, disrespect to an officer, and several other offenses long before he came out. I believe he is abusing the system, and should not be a champion for discrimination.
? for Mark...Where did you or are you getting this information about Lt Choi? If any or all of what you say is true, then either you are high up in the military court system and privvy to classified information, (thereby violating your secrecy agreement), or just making it up. ANY ongoing trial and information associated with itis always under extreme lock-down/security... As information on ANY ongoing trial is NOT to be discussed or released outside of the courtroom.Seems you are going to either be up for a misconduct trial yourself, or a civilian just fabrication this info as a means to to an end. This is someone's life - your rumors are insulting to him and to all americans... as you are violating the sanctity of our American Justice system. A military record is NOT public record, especially when there is a question of discharge for ANY reason. Your claims are slanderous and would be cause for a mis-trial — but the fact you are producing otherwise un-announced accusations against him are laughable; pushing the bounds of legality, and hopefully they are traceable back to you through this posting.
THANK YOU, bc.
