DC Asian Pacific American Film Festival
The 10th Annual DC APA Film Festival includes events, shorts, and features, like the Opening Night presentation of Eric Byler and Annabel Park's 9500 Liberty, a documentary about the contentious immigration debate in Prince William County, Virginia. Up In Arms: A Night of Hip Hop & Spoken Word to Honor Fong Lee
In July 2006, un-armed Fong Lee was shot eight times in the back by a Minneapolis police officer. While an all-white federal jury exonerated officer Jason Anderson, the Lee family has continued to seek legal justice. An incredible lineup of artists will come together to raise awareness and support for Fong Lee's case and activate communities around the issue of police brutality. The evening will be emceed by Tou Ger Xiong and Amy Hang, with performances by Magnetic North, Nomi of Power Struggle, Michelle Myers of Yellow Rage, Maria Isa, and many more. All proceeds will go to the Lee family to assist with attorney fees.

To launch the Hepatitis B Awareness Campaign, UC Irvine students and public health experts have joined forces with cutting-edge artists to present an art exhibit and live performances. Chronic Hepatitis B is a "silent killer", with Asian Americans 20 times more likely to have the disease than the overall US population. Performances will include YouTube sensation KevJumba and KABA Modern.
