Japanese American National Museum (JANM) Anniversary Gala

The National Museum’s 2010 Gala Dinner theme celebrates the 25th Anniversary of its incorporation, and will recognize the collective support and contributions by dedicated volunteers and community organizations who have laid the foundation for the Museum to become the home for Japanese American history and community. Stanford Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) Culture Night 

The Stanford VSA presents its annual Culture Night, including musical performances, dancers, and a fashion show. The theme for this year -- "Rivers of Time: The Shaping of Generations" -- is based upon the 35th Anniversary of Black April, or the Fall of Saigon. All proceeds will benefit the Immigrant Resettlement and Cultural Center (IRCC). Free food at intermission. More info here.

Last Train Home Film Screening and Director Discussion

As part of its APA Heritage Month, Macalester College presents the Minnesota premiere of the award-winning Last Train Home. The film documents the return home of 130 million rural migrant factory workers each Chinese New Year. Followed by a discussion with director Lixin Fan to examine the impact of globalization on tradition, gender roles, and normative nuclear family structures.
