Plate by Plate Annual Tasting Benefit

Each year, Plate by Plate (PbP) showcases New York City’s premier restaurants, and is attended by over 500 food and wine loving guests. This year's participating restaurants will include Thalassa, Blue Smoke, South Gate, and many more. Net proceeds will benefit PbP's 2010 Partner, Hamilton Madison House, a non-profit settlement house in Manhattan's Chinatown area dedicated to improving the quality of life in its community. Justice for Fong Lee Rally & Press Conference


On July 22, 2006, Hmong teenager Fong Lee was with a group of friends riding bikes near the North Minneapolis Cityview Elementary School, when Minneapolis police officers chased them across the playground. Officer Jason Andersen shot Fong Lee eight times, in the back, side, and then five more shots into Lee’s chest. In 2009 the family of Fong Lee brought a wrongful death lawsuit again the City of Minneapolis and Jason Andersen, and has since appealed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for a new trial, which has been denied. Now, the family is taking their case to the Supreme Court, in hopes that national attention will result in a new trial. This rally and press conference is in support of the family's efforts.

The Korea Society presents the New York Korean Film Festival -- eight films in a collaborative effort with the Museum of Modern Art and Brooklyn Academy of Music. Highlighted by a directors' discussion on September 28th at The Korea Society, films will screen at MoMA from September 22- 30 and at BAM Rose Cinema from October 1-3. Estria Graffiti Battle


Graffiti living legend Estria Miyashiro presents the Fourth Annual Estria Invitational Graffiti Battle, a nationwide urban art competition that honors and advances creativity in the hip-hop arts. Juvenilia Reading with Ken Chen


Join this special reading and conversation with winner of the annual Yale Younger Poets competition and Asian American Writers' Workshop Executive Director Ken Chen, as he reads from his collection Juvenilia. These poems chronicle Chen's relationship with his immigrant family and his comically doomed love affairs.
