Hyphen
is seeking a blog editor to join our staff leadership -- specifically a kickass editor who is conscientious, credible, smart, bookish,
detailed-oriented and opinionated. Our staff members are
news junkies who are interested in social justice issues, politics and pop
culture.
As Hyphen is an all-voluteer organization, there is no money involved, just the exhilarating experience of working alongside
the finest Asian American minds that community college ever produced.
Issues
that affect Asian Americans are what we cover. While our focus is Asians living
in the United States, we also strive to cover the international Asian diaspora
through the lens of the Asian American experience. But, we'll still cringe at
anything with the phrase "East meets West" in it.
Previous
journalism, writing, editing and/or blogging experience highly desired, but we're open to newcomers!
BLOG
EDITOR:
As part of the Hyphen online and editorial leadership team, the (co)-blog editor will work closely with the existing co-blog editor to manage and coordinate a team of regular columnists and occasional bloggers/staff
contributors, providing them with content guidance and copyedits of their posts as
well as technical support in our CMS. Other duties include vetting blog pitches, coordinating publishing schedules with other Hyphen teams (Edit, Biz), and some other fun stuff.
Experience with Drupal or other blogging platforms desired.
Go here for more info (do NOT submit the volunteer application, this is for Biz team only) or contact Cynthia(dot)Brothers(at)hyphenmagazine(dot)com with your interest and questions by January 24th, 2013.
