One commonly-used measure of health and obesity is the body mass index, or BMI, but it may actually be a poor measure of Asian American health, according to recent studies.
BMI is calculated by multiplying your weight in pounds by 703, dividing that answer by your height in inches, then dividing that answer by your height in inches again. According to the National Institutes of Health, a BMI of more than 25 is considered overweight, and a BMI of more than 30 is obese.
