A native Northern Californian and 3rd generation Chinese/Filipino, Bruce has lived in San Francisco since 1998. From 2000-2011 he was the founding pastor of a 20/30-something church in SF and in 2008 was elected Moderator of the 218th General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA). He now makes his way as a writer, speaker and social media consultant.
He is an enthusiastic blogger where he muses on faith, politics, culture and parenting. His writing can be seen on Patheos, The Huffington Post, San Francisco Gate, The Working Preacher, and others. In all of his writing and speaking, Bruce is committed to expressing a Christian faith that is beautifully complex, unimaginably just and excruciatingly gracious.
A graduate from SF State (1990 - BA, Asian American Studies, Sociology and Religion), SF Theological Seminary (1995 - MA), Bruce is now a Doctor of Ministry student at McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Bruce currently serves on the boards ofThe Public Religion Research Institute and CA Faith for Equality and particpates many other community organizations.
When not blogging, Tweeting or Facebooking you might find him riding his motorcycle to a baseball game, chillaxing at a local cafe or chauffeuring his three daughtersaround The City.
Current projects include a social media guide for churches with Shook Foil Books due July, 2012, a new Radio Show, BRC and Friends to launch Summer, 2012; and he is part of the a team launching a new church that will meet online.
