Link Time: Harragossip Girls

November 19, 2007

  • Why are the only people of color on Gossip Girl mute? DISGRASIAN has a few sassy things to say about how the show follows in the footsteps of Gwen Stefani in treating people of color like accessories. Read about the one black girl and one Asian girl on the show, aka the HaraGossip Girls (links to Racialicious). You know the two. They always show up together, dressed similarly, trailing queen bee Blair.

By the way, I love the tagline on DISGRASIAN's site: "You're a disgrace. To the race." We feel that way too sometimes about certain people. I've been thinking of starting a hopefully not-too-recurring entry on the Hyphen blog called Losing Face. As in "Losing Face: Tila Tequila."

  • And here's a cool story in the Boston Globe about POC bloggers. Blog is Beautiful. You should check it out if only to find out about all the great blogs that are out there. (I linked to a few of them today.)
