LoveLikeFire Prep for New Album

June 25, 2008

Yu discussed the growth of bands fronted by Asian American female singers (namely
Blonde Redhead, Deerhoof, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs) in a 2007 interview with Asian Week.

On being Asian American, Yu says, "All
these Asian American organizations gravitate towards me. I guess this
doesn’t happen very often, and it’s hard breaking through. I don’t
really identify as an Asian American in a band. I just want to tell a
story and happen to be Asian American."

According to their
official site, the band just went into a Mission District recording studio to work on their first full-length album with producer Bill Racine (Flaming Lips, Mates of State) and will be touring the west, midwest, and east coast starting this September.
