The APIA Spoken Word and Poetry Summit is a biannual gathering of poets, artists, musicians, and activists throughout the world who convene for four days of workshops, performances, and discussions to uplift the APIA arts and activism community. Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon Exhibit
The Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program and its Vietnamese American Heritage Project present Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon, an exhibition that tells the story of the Vietnamese American experience in America from 1975 to the present. It explores themes of challenge, contribution, and change, emphasizing the vibrant diversity of the VA community. Accompanying curriculum guide available here. Exhibit runs through August 30, 2009.

Chinatown Summer Street Festival
Asian Americans For Equality (AAFE) presents the 18th Annual Summer Street Festival, in the heart of NYC's Chinatown. With the theme "Building Green and Healthy Communities", the festival will highlight enviro-friendly programs and initiatives undertaken by the community. Organization for Chinese Americans (OCA) Fundraiser and Awards Gala
This event's a while off, but we wanted to give our readers plenty of time to nab tickets. OCA's San Mateo Chapter will be holding its 22nd Annual Fundraiser and Awards Gala, with the theme "Making A Difference Today for a Brighter Tomorrow". The Gala raises funds for its high school Scholarship and Speak & Lead With Pride leadership programs. Achievement awards will also be given to three outstanding members of the APA community: Belmont-Redwood Shores School District Board of Trustees Karen Clancy, Executive Director of Chinatown Child Development Center Nancy Lim-Yee, and State Controller John Chiang.
