DramaFever Launch Party

August 7, 2009

The launch party was held last night at the swank Times Square Circle Club in New
York, with a sizeable line outside before doors even opened. The place was
shortly packed with almost 500 folks eager to receive raffle items like
BoA CDs and other goodies.

Def Jam poet Kelly Zen-Yie Tsai kicked off the performances with her electric spoken word, followed by a hip-hop set from Taiyo Na and Magnetic North that got the crowd hyped.

the folks behind DramaFever know how to throw a great party as well as
produce a great concept. The site is up with shows available for
viewing now -- grab some Red Bull, a box of Kleenex, and hunker down
for a marathon of Asian Dra--Ma.

I love that Asian American performers like Kelly Tsai and Taiyo Na were a part of this launch event. Asian Americans should be able to embrace pop culture from Asia without fearing that it somehow weakens the creation of Asian American culture. I don't think there is a conflict.
