The Coalition of Asian Pacifics in Entertainmanent (CAPE) is hosting a special fundraiser for Japan relief. The event will feature performances and appearances by actors, musicians, and comedians such as George Takei, Dawen, and Harry Shum Jr. Hosted by Leonardo Nam. Includes food and drink. 100% of proceeds will go to the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross, specifically for the Japan Tsunami relief efforts. More info here.

Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven
Asian American Theater Company (AATC) presents the West Coast premiere of the new play Songs of the Dragons Flying to Heaven by Young Jean Lee. The satirical play follows four Korean women on a Tarantino-esque journey and collage of dance, monologues, scenes, and violence to explode Asian stereotypes. The show opens March 26th and runs through April 16, 2011.

The Japanese American National Museum presents a reading of the new play The Last of the Nisei Cougars by Philip W. Chung. With Emily C. Chang (Colin Hearts Kay) and Lynn Chen (Saving Face). 50-year-old Nisei widow Sashi Hirano hasn’t been with a man since her husband passed away 30 years ago. Until 19-year-old Korean adoptee Dennis Johnson unexpectedly enters her world. A new comedy about finding love at any age.

Join the Bay Area Asian community as the Warriors celebrate Asian Community Night when they take on John Wall, Yi Jianlian and the Washington Wizards. Each ticket includes a commemorative Asian Community Night gift, and all kids are invited to shoot a free throw after the game on the Warriors Court. A portion of each ticket will be donated to the AsianWeek Foundation for their work in raising awareness on Hepatitis B, which affects 1 in 10 Asian and Pacific Islanders. Call for Entries for the San Diego Asian Film Festival
The 12th Annual SDAFF will offer nine days of films, discussions, panels, and events. SDAFF is seeking competitive entries in the following categories: narrative feature, narrative short, documentary feature, documentary short, and animation. Winners and the Grand Jury award will be announced at the Festival's Gala Awards Night on October 22, 2011. Films submitted must be directed or principally acted by an artist of A/PI descent, or whose subject matter is related to A/PI culture. More info, rules, and application here.
