Hyphen Publisher Lisa Lee and Hyphen are both nominated for Asian Pacific Heritage Month Awards being presented by the city of San Francisco. Congratulations to Lisa and Hyphen's staff of volunters and its contributors!
The theme of this year's awards is media and the role it plays in the community. Lisa is nominated in the Emerging Leadership category and Hyphen is nominated in the Community Impact category.
Along with Lisa, our friend Andrew Lam, an author and an editor at New America Media, and multimedia journalist Nicki Sun, who wrote about Far East Movement for Hyphen, are also nominated for Emerging Leadership.
Fellow Community Impact nominees are KQED, the PBS and NPR affiliate in San Francisco, and New America Media, an ethnic media news service.
In the Lifetime Achievement category, veteran San Francisco Bay Area television journalists David Louie and Jan Yanehiro are nominees.
The awards are given out by Mayor Ed Lee and the Asian Pacific Heritage Foundation of San Francisco as part of the city's APA Heritage Month celebration. The winners will be announced tonight at a ceremony in the Herbst Theatre. Congratulations to all the nominees!
