Wing Luke Museum presents its new exhibit Vintage Japantown, featuring photos from the Takano Studio. Set in an intimate living room scene, view vintage photographs from the 1930s and early 1940s that capture the everyday life of Japantown and its community. Year of the Rabbit: Usagi Yojimbo Exhibit
This retrospective exhibition of 25 years of Usagi Yojimbo celebrates the work of Stan Sakai and includes original drawings and paintings that bring to life the adventures of his samurai rabbit from 17th century feudal Japan. In addition to original artwork, the exhibition will include comic book covers, translated comics, toys, a new short documentary about Sakai, other artists’ renditions of Usagi Yojimbo, and more. Sakai will give a talk, demonstration, and sign copies of his latest compilation book, Usagi Yojimbo Volume 25: Fox Hunt during the exhibit opening. Part of Target Free Family Saturday. Urban Design Family Workshop

In this workshop led by Rebecca Hackemann, children will create drawings, collages, and paintings that capture their own visions and ideas for an empty lot at Pike Slip, just under the Manhattan Bridge. Through the exploration of historic photographs and a hands-on art project, children will be encouraged to think, learn, and contribute to environments in New York City that could be used for the public. One of the images created will be displayed inside a public art piece for one year. Art supplies provided. More info here.
