Yeonghwa: Korean Film Today

The second season of Yeonghwa -- presented by The Korea Society -- includes feature Korean films such as Town Trilogy by Jeon Kyu-hwan and Black Hair by Geomeun Meori. Enriching the exhibition are short works by major Korean filmmakers from Jeonju International Film Festival’s Digital Film Project. All films are in Korean with English subtitles. Asian American Literary Review 9/11 Issue Launch

Alwan for the Arts, NYC's premier Arab and Middle Eastern Cultural Center, invites you to commemorate the 10th year anniversary of September 11th and reflect on what it has meant and continues to mean within our communities both here and abroad. The 350-page publication and companion DVD feature a wide array of interviews, essays, first person testimony, and video shorts by South/Asian and Arab American contributors.
The aunch will include performances, short readings, and reflections by contributors and special guests, such as the VISIBLE Collective and DJ Rekha, who have written about the hardships endured, political battles waged, and personal and collective responses to the past 10 years. Enjoy desi snacks and sodas on the house, and cash bar also available.

Actress Amy Hill explores how her life has evolved since her daughter became a part
of her family. Hill talks about adoption, single motherhood, multiracial/transracial identity, and her continuing struggles to figure it all out. Far from her days of flying solo, Hill has moved into a not-so-solo world. Her daughter may or may not make an appearance.
