NYC Street Style: Beating the Cold

January 30, 2012

Parading around near Prince Street with my camera, I spied a few stylish pedestrians keeping warm while looking pretty cool.

With the city being most generous by holding off its bitter winds and below-freezing temps this January, New Yorkers are able to find happy mediums with their cold-weather gear and stylish flare. Walking around SoHo, I found folks with fun outerwear pieces that didn't swallow their personalities (although of the tired formula of peacoat + Ugg boots there was also plenty). Oversized vintage denim, fun faux fur, and patched leather jackets keep the streets lively and young.

A New Yorker's duality: an unapproachable black outfit, with a friendly reminder of thine own style.

Adding metallic sneakers to an all black, sporty 'fit: the perfect amount of pop and edge.

The pink handbag makes this sophisticated shopper look fresh and modern.

Sassy leopard tights with sneakers? Cropped fur jacket with a bright blue woven top? Queens of Street Style.

Some people are just born with great fashionable accessories -- glowing personalities -- like Mio and boyfriend Kappa here!

More gold sneakers! Must find a pair of my own now...
