When’s the last time you donned your favorite flight gear and went borping?! In Bumperboy Loses His Marbles! comic artist and Xeric grant winner Debbie Huey invites young and old into Bubtopia, as Bumperboy (who wears his white spandex suit “for high-speed borping”) and his beloved pooch, Bumperpup (who wears his white suit because “he likes the way it looks”), go on an adventure through the borp-holes of Bubtopia in search of Bumper-Grandma’s championship marble shooter.
You don’t have to be an avid comics fan, or know diddly about marbles to be swept into Huey’s universe, cheering for Bumperboy and pal Gordy (who always wears socks because “he has cold feet”), as they vie for Bubtopia’s grand marble tournament title against Frederik, the wingless prankster-bird. It’s hard to believe that Huey herself began reading comics just five years ago, given her joyful mastery.
