National Day of Action for Dream Act

Today is the National Day of Action for the Dream Act, to encourage Americans to call on Congresspeople and Senators to pass a ten-year piece of immigration legislation. This law would give high school students, who have lived in the United States for over five years, the opportunity to earn conditional permanent residency if they spent years in US military service, or earned a college education. To contact your state's senators and your representative, please visit: and

Hope you all had a restful and delicious Turkeyday, my fellow TV fans! Unfortunately, national holiday = repeats and recaps, but there was a tiny bit of new television to cling onto this past week. Okay, basically one show. I still need to check out your suggestions as well (my parents' house is TV-free -- I KNOW -- so I haven't have a chance to catch up). Let's dig in!

Blast From the Past: Rohwer Relocation Center, Thanksgiving, 1942

This picture is from a Thanksgiving Day meal at the Rohwer Relocation Camp’s staff mess-hall in McGehee, AR, 1942. Though accurate population statistics were hard to come by, due to the constant movement in the internment of Japanese Americans, Rohwer is estimated to have held about 8,475 people at its peak. Almost 30 percent of those were children.
